HEALTH BENEFITS
The best ingredient for health!
The super grain is easily added to the daily diet either by eating Anutra by itself or by using it as a
vital ingredient in many traditional and specialty foods. Consider the following nutritional benefits of
Anutra based on clinical studies.

Your best source for Omega-3's
Anutra's greatest value as a super grain lies in its extremely high content of Omega-3 fatty acids.
Since the 1970's, researchers have been noting the importance of Omega-3's as a dietary factor in
achieving optimum health.
A form of polyunsaturated fat, Omega-3's are one of four types of fat derived from food sources along with
saturated fat, monounsaturated fat and trans fat . All poly- and mono-unsaturated fats including Omega-3's
offer benefits to good health and are considered the "fats of life."
Foods that are high in saturated fat and trans fat have been associated with the development of many health
issues, including heart disease and cancer. However, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats are the "good
fats."
Omega-3's, and Omega-6's (another type of polyunsaturated fat), are essential fatty acids (EFA's). The body
cannot make these important fats, so they must be obtained through diet.
Omega-6's are found naturally in cereals and whole grain breads. Omega-3's are found in cold-water fish such
as salmon, herring, sardines, tuna, mackerel and halibut; in dark green leafy vegetables; and in certain
vegetable oils.
Health experts agree that consuming a good ratio of these two EFA's is a vital key to optimum health.
Anutra now provides the single greatest, and safest, source of Omega-3's available on the market.

Rich in Lignans
Anutra is a rich source of important Lignans. Only 2 tablespoons of Anutra provides 1,275 mg of Lignans. By
comparison, the same serving size of Flax contains approximately 50 mg of Lignans.
Lignans are a type of phytonutrient (natural healing compounds) found in the cell matrix of certain seeds
and grains including Anutra. When we ingest Lignans, they are broken down in the digestive track into two
main Lignans - enterodiol and enteolactone. These Lignans circulate through the liver and are subsequently
excreted in the urine. They mimic the hormone estrogen thereby blocking the formation of hormone-based
tumors and growths. They are considered to be "phytoestrogens."
Lignans have numerous biological properties that make them unique and very useful in promoting good health
and combating various diseases. These amazing compounds have shown such extraordinary potential that the
National Cancer Institute has studied Lignans for their cancer preventative properties (for breast, colon
and prostate cancer) as well as for their anti-viral, anti-bacteria and anti-fungal effects.
It has been concluded that the release of Lignans into the body blocks the action of some cancer-causing
substances. Lignans are also a powerful antioxidant and have been shown to enhance the immune system.
There is mounting scientific evidence showing how important it is to consume a Lignan-rich diet.
Anutra has 8.5 grams of Lignans per 100 grams (3½ oz.) compared with approximately 0.3 grams per 100 grams
for flax seed. Anutra is the richest grain source of Lignans known.

Protein Quality
The amino acid protein profile of Anutra yields a 91% protein quality versus a 60% protein quality for
Flax (both based on limiting value, Lysine).

Neutral Flavoring
While Flax has a strong, dominating flavor, Anutra has a neutral flavor and hydrophilic structure which
lends itself to limitless recipe applications.

No Cyanogens
Flax contains a substance called cyanogens, which is converted in the body into another chemical called
Thiocyanate (SCN). High blood concentrations of SCN for prolonged periods of time may have adverse affects
on the thyroid gland reducing its iodine intake. Anutra contains no cyanogens.

High in Antioxidants
Due to Anutra's rich antioxidant and vitamin content, oxidation is minimal or non-existent. Flax exhibits
rapid decomposition due to its minimal antioxidant and vitamin content. Anutra requires no refrigeration.
Flax requires refrigeration.

Fat Replacement/Energy supplement
Anutra absorbs more than 18 times its weight in water and, therefore, aids in both body hydration and fat
replacement. Flax absorbs only 6 times its weight in water and is not as effective. By replacing fat and
calories, Anutra allows for greater energy and endurance, improves hydration and electrolyte balance,
improves digestion, regulates blood sugar and acts a food extender.

Digestive Enzymes
Anutra's unique soluble fiber forms a gel in the stomach that creates a physical barrier between
carbohydrates and the digestive enzymes that break them down. This process slows the conversion of
carbohydrates into sugar. Flax does not offer this gel-forming property.

Protection against high blood pressure & heart disease
Many of the health benefits of Anutra's nutrient dense properties have been validated through extensive
studies conducted at the University of Toronto.
In an acute study, after-meal blood glucose and plasma insulin levels were reduced thereby improving
insulin sensitivity. In a long-term trial, blood pressure was reduced. High blood pressure is the major
cardiovascular risk factor in those with Type 2 Diabetes.
Anutra's nutrient dense properties proved effective in reducing risk factors of heart disease such as body
inflammation and coagulation factors ("aspirin-like" effects). These clinical results indicate the great
potential of Anutra™ as a functional food useful in the prevention and treatment of heart disease.

Improve your heart health ratio with Anutra
Given today's typical dietary habits, finding additional sources of Omega-3's is more important than
ever. The ideal ratio of Omega-3's and Omega-6's is 3:1. However, based on today's eating habits, that
ratio has fallen dramatically to 1:20. The increase in Omega-6 intake is directly related to the huge
amounts of highly refined oils used in cooking, such as corn oil, safflower oil, cottonseed oil, peanut
oil and soybean oil.
To help offset that negative dietary trend, Anutra contains the perfect ratio of 3:1 (3 Omega-3's to 1
Omega-6). Anutra's Omega-3 is called Alpha-Linolenic acid (ALA) – a critical source for health and
well-being. Without enough Omega-3, the body will use saturated fat to construct cell membranes. When
this occurs, the cell membranes are less elastic which in turn has a negative effect on the heart, making
it more difficult to return to its resting state. Anutra's Omega-3's also promote the healthy regeneration
of all cells.
There are also two "non-essential" Omega-3 fatty acids. They are DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA
(eicosapentaenoic acid), which the body makes from ALA and which are present in some fish oil.
The body makes these non-essential fats (EPA and DHA) from ALA (like the ALA found in Anutra. Fish oil
companies and others would like you to believe that the body's conversion process of ALA into DHA and
EPA is not adequate because the high consumption of Omega-6's in the average American diet may slow the
conversion of ALA into DHA and EPA; however, the high levels of vitamin B-6, zinc and magnesium found in
Anutra counter this charge and allows for proper conversion factors.

World's first grain proven to reduce inflammation
Recent groundbreaking evidence indicates that the presence of "inflammation" in the body is as dangerous a
health concern as high cholesterol in the development of arterial disease, heart attack and strokes. This
"inflammation" is easily measured with a simple test that examines the level of a chemical called C-reactive
protein (CRP), which increases dramatically during inflammation. CRP, the marker for inflammation, is a
molecule produced by the liver in response to an inflammatory signal that can come from arteries clogged
with excess fat deposits or plaque. This occurs more frequently in people who are overweight and obese.
Previous studies have associated people with elevated CRP levels to have a higher risk of experiencing heart
attacks, strokes, and Type 2 Diabetes. Experts have determined that having CRP levels of 0.5mg/l or less
rarely have heart attacks. Other recent findings strongly indicate a relationship between higher CRP levels
and the potential risk of colon cancer.
In randomized clinical studies, Anutra's extraordinary profile of antioxidant vitamins, calcium, magnesium,
other important vitamins and minerals and its rich levels of Omega-3 fatty acids proved to be effective in
reducing inflammation levels and corresponding CRP levels in individuals with Type 2 Diabetes by 21%.
